I had the absolute pleasure of seeing Babygirl at the cinema last night.
I have no idea why this film didn’t show up on my radar before, but I’d gone out for a couple of drinks and the next thing I know I’m whisked into the cinema for a spontaneous movie trip.
This was slightly traumatic for me as I wasn’t prepared for a movie trip and didn’t take my plastic spoon for ice cream and had to eat off a wooden one. Bleagh.
The movie was incredible. Beautifully done. The best thing I’ve seen since Barbie! It spoke to me on an emotional level and was a journey of discovery I remember myself.
But even better was the fact 99.9% of the audience were vanilla. So much pearl clutching. Gasps of “no”, “wtf” and a heck of a lot of awkward giggles.
On leaving a couple of older ladies declared they should have “stayed home and watched Gogglebox”!
I loved every minute. Nicole was stunning in both her enlightenment and her unravelling. Watching her interact with the gorgeous young intern was mesmerising.
Reviews are coming in mixed… the vanillas are obviously dragging the ratings down through lack of understanding. “Pathetic and sad”, “too much sex and not enough plot”. It went over a lot of people’s heads.
My opinion? A must see. But if you go to the cinema, be prepared for the vanilla reactions!!!
